This role is located in NRM, within the Cawood Scientific Agriculture Division. NRM, part of the Cawood Scientific Group, are the UK’s largest independent provider of agronomic and environmental waste analysis for land-based industries.

We offer water, soil, manures, fertilisers and plant tissue analysis to farmers, growers and agronomists for improved farm productivity, as well as land-based environmental services including composted waste, anaerobic digestate, effluents and industrial renewables. 

Job description

Cawood is the UK’s leading independent scientific group, recognized for its technical capability and value-added service to customers. We provide laboratory analysis to the agriculture, food and environmental sectors, as well as contract research to GLP standards to support the development of agrochemicals, biocides and other chemicals.

Cawood are looking for an Accounting Assistant Trainee for the Agriculture division, reporting to the Transactional Manager. As a Trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment while assisting with various tasks related to Finance , in specific account payable . The role is remote but will require 20% travel to site to meet with finance and business team members.

Role and responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritize under pressure.
  • Assist with reconciliation of bank account
  • Reconcile supplier statement to ensure all invoices are accounted for.
  • Communicate with supplier to resolve any invoice discrepancies for issues.
  • Prepare and Process payment run in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate notes on the status of accounts and up to date contact details.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Take ownership for supplier’s queries, dealing with them quickly and efficiently to the satisfaction of the business and the customer.
  • Set up new supplier’s account.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments within the business to build relationships across functions.
  • Assist the overall finance team workload.

Qualifications and experience

  • Studying towards a qualification (eg. AAT ) is desirable but not essential as study support will be provided .
  • Good working knowledge of accounts functions and processes is desirable.
  • Experience with customer service or sales teams is desirable.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good level of knowledge around the Microsoft suite of products particularly Microsoft excel.
  • Can do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
