Creating products to solve customer and business problems. That’s one good thing.
At Capital One, we're on a mission: to change credit – one good thing at a time. You might think of us as a credit card company. But the truth is, we're just as much a technology business. And we're here to make a positive difference – to our customers, our colleagues and community.
One of the happy consequences of making finance easier for our customers is that Capital One is an inspiring place to launch your career. Join us, and you can expect early responsibility as you take on meaningful work in collaborative teams. We’ve got a great track record of hiring graduates and enabling them to reach their full potential. Just look at our CEO, Lucy Hagues. She started as a graduate and now leads the UK business. And that’s just one of many success stories.
We are committed to creating teams that are representative of our customers and the communities we serve. We welcome applications from everyone, and would particularly love to hear from you if you identify with an under-represented group in our industry, such as women, the LGBTQ+ community and ethnic minority candidates.
Product Managers at Capital One
Our Product Managers are responsible for creating visions and strategies that will help enhance our products. They do this by putting together a variety of options and approaches to problems, welcome different perspectives, look at things from every possible angle and make decisions to help us succeed.
During the two year Graduate programme you will rotate and cover products in a wide range of areas including: Marketing, Analytics, Technology and Operations, giving you the opportunity to get a broad understanding around our products and deeper understanding of Product Management. You can expect to get involved in technical, business and design issues as you lead the cross-functional teams who deliver on our products as well as taking end-to-end ownership and seeing initial ideas through to delivery. Part of your work will involve GAP and trend analysis, working collaboratively with people across the business, such as Tech and Design, to identify, develop and enable innovative new solutions.
Being a graduate at Capital One isn’t just about your technical skills. There's huge scope for personal development too. Whether you see yourself as a future leader, a subject matter expert or something in between, you'll have a manager, mentor and buddy to support you, as you carve a career path that's perfect for you.
What you’ll need
We don’t mind what degree background you have, what matters is that you are a skilled communicator and problem solver.
You’ll have effective stakeholder management skills with an understanding of what it takes to develop products and launch them into the market. Because you will be working across multiple business areas, you will also need an aptitude for learning new tools and technologies.
You are someone who is curious, proactive and has the ability to influence others.
The Recruitment Process
To ensure a flexible and accessible process, every stage will be conducted virtually. You'll also have a dedicated recruiter to support you throughout and answer any questions you might have.
- Step 1: After your initial application, if you meet the eligibility criteria you will be sent out online testing to complete, which consists of a situational and strengths, and a numerical and verbal reasoning assessment.
- Step 2: Next up, you will be invited to complete a one way video interview.
- Step 3: You’ll get to (virtually) meet with one of our Product Managers to complete a Product interview.
- Step 4: The assessment day, which consists of a group activity, case study and individual interview, and if successful we’ll offer you a place on the programme!

Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position and based in either our Nottingham or London office.
We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home. We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Many of our associates have flexible working arrangements, and we’re open to talking about an arrangement that works for you.
What you should know about how we recruit
We pride ourselves on hiring the best people, not the same people. Building diverse and inclusive teams is the right (and the smart) thing to do. We want to work with top talent: whoever you are, whatever you look like, wherever you come from. We know it’s about what you do, not just what you say. That’s why we make our recruitment process fair and accessible.
We also partner with organisations including the Women in Finance and Race At Work Charters, Stonewall and upReach to find people from every walk of life and help them thrive with us. We have a whole host of internal networks and support groups you could be involved in, to name a few:
- REACH – Race Equality and Culture Heritage group focuses on representation, retention and engagement for associates from minority ethnic groups and allies
- OutFront – to provide LGBTQ+ support for all associates
- Mind Your Mind – signposting support and promoting positive mental wellbeing for all
- Women in Tech – promoting an inclusive environment in tech
- EmpowHER - network of female associates and allies focusing on developing future leaders, particularly for female talent in our industry
- Enabled - dedicated group for disability and neurodiversity, to improve the working life of all associates
- GreenTeam - Passionate about sustainability, on a mission to help Capital One UK improve its environmental impacts
