Canopius is seeking a motivated and detail oriented individual to join our Property Binders Claims team as a Trainee Claims Adjuster.
The role
This is an excellent opportunity for an entry level person or new graduate looking to start, or advance, their career in the London insurance market. The successful candidate will learn to proactively adjust claims from initial notification through to settlement.
You will adjust claims within their claims authority and in accordance with established claim policies and procedures and under the guidance of senior leaders. Deliver excellent claims service to all customers, through effective claims management.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate claims and review the insured’s and/or claimant’s materials, documents and reports.
- With guidance where necessary, determine the validity, accuracy and extent of coverage, liability and quantum.
- With guidance where necessary, identify and propose solutions to drive claims to resolution.
- Ensure that adequate financial provisions are maintained and reported appropriately.
- Provide excellent customer service to insured clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders (including, but not limited to actuarial, underwriters, outwards reinsurance and finance).
- Respond promptly to claims enquiries.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (including, but not limited to brokers, insureds or reinsureds, DCAs (delegated claims authority), both in writing and verbally.
- Develop an understanding of the market including the applicable regulatory context.
- Assist in the adherence to and execution of claims best practice, including but not limited to managing relationships with Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and legal advisers.
- Provide support to the claims capability in relation to management of claims and/or project work.
