The role
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
We are looking for a Legal Intern to work with the UK & Ireland Legal Team to provide general administrative support, prepare legal contractual documents, undertake legal research and support with the preparation and management of legal documentation. You will report directly to the Legal Counsel, but will work with all members of the Legal Team (both internally and externally).
What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?
To support the Legal Team with their day-to-day operations to ensure that the Team can more efficiently meet and support the needs of the business.
Accountabilities
- Providing general administrative support to the Legal Team including management of team meetings, developing meeting agendas and taking minutes.
- Undertaking third party screening / due diligence checks.
- Supporting with the preparation and management of legal documentation (including confidentiality agreements, commercial contracts, records management, execution of documents).
- Undertaking ad-hoc legal research and preparing research notes.
- Supporting the Legal Counsel to organise training sessions for the wider business.
- Raising purchase orders and support with budget management for the Legal Team.
- Supporting the Legal Team with ad-hoc requests.
About you
Experience working within a corporate environment. Previous experience working in a law firm or in the legal department of a company a plus but not essential.
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluent in English.
- Well organised, ability to effectively manage priorities and work to tight deadlines.
- Motivated, punctual and dependable.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to adapt easily to wide variety of requests.
- Confident and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of different levels of the business.
- Team player and ability to build close working relationships with all relevant functions in end market, area and head office.
- Advanced understanding of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required:
- Undergraduate Law Degree or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Entry-level position suited for aspiring lawyers who are looking to gain experience in a large, well-established, corporate environment.
Desired:
- Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), Legal Practice Course (LPC), or further legal studies.
