Early Careers Experience at bp 

Our summer internships are 11 weeks. You’ll be based in one team throughout your internship, working on real projects that you’ll be able to manage through to completion. Throughout you’ll have the support of a dedicated line manager and a buddy from one of our early careers programs.  

Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to attend events and socials with other interns, take part in training sessions to help develop your interpersonal skills and network with leaders from across bp. The program is designed to help build your skills and technical knowledge whilst also allowing you to learn more about life at bp.   

During your time with us, you'll be assigned to one of the Intelligent, Security & Crisis Management (ISC) areas: 

Intelligence & International Advisory 

Intelligence & International Advisory (I&IA) directly support the company’s understanding, management and leveraging of geopolitical risk, emerging international security concerns, and political changes in global markets that might create openings for bp to advance its commercial strategy.  In this role the graduate will be exposed to Political Risk Management, International Security Affairs/Geopolitical Intelligence, commercially focused intelligence to support deal planning, strategic cyber intelligence, and insider risk. 

Crisis and Continuity Management 

C&CM provides C&CM expertise for bp customers to ensure they have the capability to respond to emergency and crisis events and to recover afterwards.  In this role the graduate will be exposed to bp’s risk management process and documentation, response exercises and business continuity programs. 

Security 

Security provides specialist physical security advise to all relevant bp businesses to ensure security is properly implemented in accordance with bp’s requirements.  In this role the graduate will be exposed the development of bp’s security plans and policies to safeguard the staff and assets of bp, support with security incidents and be part of security projects as and when required. 

Roles & Responsibilities 

The roles and responsibilities across Intelligent, Security & Crisis Management (ISC) are varied, and the precise nature of your role will be defined by your skills as well as the needs of the business. Some of these responsibilities might include: 

  • Helping to respond to our bp customer’s needs. 
  • Building relationships with our bp customers, collaborating across functions, segments and teams to deliver excellence 
  • Working on projects and supporting your team to find the best solution. 
  • Helping to maintain performance within your team and for bp as a company 

As part of bp, you will also be able to take part in additional activities outside of your role, whether it be supporting local community initiatives or our bp Business Resourcing Groups and you are given the encouragement and time to participate. 

Requirements   

To apply for this role, you must be in your penultimate year of study (those going onto a Master’s and PhD students can apply), and be on track for a 2:1. All degrees background are welcome.  

For this role you are expected to have strong spoken and written English language skills, including business and technical English.  Language skills will be assessed throughout the recruitment process.

This role is likely to be based out of one the following UK offices: 

Bp Sunbury - ICBT (International Centre for Business & Technology), Chertsey Road, Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex, TW16 7LN 

Start & end dates  

23rd June to 5th September 2025   

Please note: Our internships are full-time. If you will struggle to be available for these dates &/or may not be able to work full time, please flag this if you are invited to a technical interview, or earlier if possible.

Reward  

Salary: £33,400 p.a. (prorated for the duration of your internship)
