Our Global Banking Summer Internship programme provides a unique opportunity to spend nine exciting weeks at the Bank, in one of the two key Global Banking Areas: Capital Markets or Corporate Clients Group. Your first week will consist of comprehensive and interactive training, with the following eight weeks spent in one of these business areas.
What you’ll get to do
As an intern, you will be given responsibility from day to add real value to live projects for real clients and will be encouraged to expand your professional network across the bank. You’ll get the opportunity to work in Capital Markets (consisting of Debt Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Real Estate Finance, Energy, Resources & Infrastructure and Corporate Broking) or Corporate Clients Group (consisting of Corporate Coverage, UK Advisory and Industry Groups). Here is a breakdown of the types of things you’ll be able to do in either of our Global Banking Areas:
Capital Markets
- Exposure to wide range of asset types, products and clients
- Prepare pitch books, presentations and memorandums
- Assist in the origination and execution of transactions of equity, term loan, high yield and mandates
- Conduct financial and credit analysis by developing quantitative models
- Prepare market updates for clients and build monitoring tools
- Undertake legal, technical and other due diligence on assets
- Prepare credit committee memorandums and present findings to committee
- Assist in the review of legal documentation and draft term sheets
- Prepare syndication presentations, manage data flow and field investor queries
- Engage with other teams of the Bank
Corporate Clients Group
- Exposure to a wide range of clients and projects
- Exposure to the full range of our business areas and product offering
- Develop a knowledge of legal documentation and analyse its strength and appropriateness
- Undertake frequent individual analysis on these clients and submit reports to our sanctioning bodies
- Assist in the origination and execution of transactions
- Assist in conducting industry research and analysis
- Prepare pitch books, presentations and memorandums
- Financial analysis and valuation by developing quantitative models
- Develop understanding across corporate finance /treasury concepts, client needs and how Bank / Client solutions are created, across all product lines
- Provide input into credit papers and work with the Credit Analysis team to ensure the delivery of papers, in a timely manner
- Attend Credit Committees
What we’re looking for
The Internship is open to all penultimate year students regardless of degree background. All you need to be is ambitious, bright, with the ability to problem solve and willingness to learn. We also look for:
