Compliance is an independent Function responsible for providing specialist support to Senior Management in managing Compliance risks, typically acting as a Second Level of Defence for Compliance-owned risks, including Market Integrity, Protection of Interest of Clients, Financial Security and Professional Ethics.

Financial Markets Compliance is a global team and part of Compliance CIB.

Purpose & scope of role

This 11-month role will sit within the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities Financial Markets Compliance Advisory team that covers the following Business Lines: Global Macro; Global Credit and ALMT (Asset & Liability Management & Treasury). This will enable the candidate to gain exposure to the workings of the Financial Markets Compliance Team and the Businesses we cover. Team members are based in London and Paris sitting on the trading floors directly supporting the Business. You’ll be given the opportunity to support the team working on live transactions and projects with real responsibility allowing you to gain exposure to a dynamic, fast-growing Business and to different aspects of the Compliance Advisory role.

The candidate will be required to work closely with the relevant Advisory teams (in London, Paris and globally), other Compliance teams and a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities of role

Work with the Head of the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities Financial Markets Compliance Advisory Team on priority topics and provide support to the other members of the team based in London and Paris.

  • Support the team who participate in and contribute to relevant committees on governance, conduct and control issues (TACs/NAC, ICCs, Conduct Committees, CORe, etc.)
  • Help co-ordinate Compliance input on ad-hoc Business or Regulatory topics
  • Participate in or drive various projects and initiatives relevant to the business lines they cover or transversally
  • Coordinate or assist in driving Compliance topics and provide Compliance colleagues and 3LoD with Business context (Risk Assessment, Control Plan, IG reviews)
  • Provide Compliance training to the Business on specific topics and help design training on rules, regulations or best practices, in coordination with 1LoD and other Compliance teams
  • Provide input into drafting of and maintenance of Compliance Policies and Procedures to guide the Business and meet regulatory requirements
  • Create good working relationships with the business members, to help them understand the rules, regulations, policies and procedures so they are able to manage their risks
  • Endeavour to understand the Business strategy and identify potential risks proactively and positively to protect the bank
  • Increase knowledge and exposure to various Global Markets Business lines
  • Collect, review and challenge content provided by the team for management reporting.
  • Align initiatives for maximum efficiency between the Financial Markets Team and other Compliance stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain communication tools and data repositories such as SharePoint, shared drives, mailboxes, and email distribution lists
  • Identify opportunities and construct solutions for improving efficiency in the way the team works
