Are you passionate about Forestry and looking for a role where you can make an impact? If so, we are recruiting for a Graduate Forestry Consultant to join our Forestry Team in September 2025 at one of our three Scotland locations:
- Perth
- Inverness
- Fort William

Bidwells manages c.200,000 hectares of rural property across Scotland, with the Forestry Team managing contracts and properties across Scotland and Northern England.
Bidwells Forestry Team is a long established and profitable part of our successful and growing business, that prides itself on providing fully independent, client-focused forestry advice. Our objective is obtaining the best outcomes for our clients and their woodlands, with professional ability and integrity valued above all else.
The Forestry Team is forward thinking, with a strong client base, actively involved in a wide cross-section of the industry from forest asset management for institutional investors, portfolios and family offices to traditional estate forest management as well as providing a range of professional services including forest sales, valuations and acquisitions, renewables EIAs and construction management, specialist one-off consultancy work and woodland creation projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting in the securing of woodland creation approvals.
- Creating work contract maps using QGIS.
- Preparing Work Plans for individual coupes and activities whilst managing progression of these through to completion.
- Supervising forest workers and contractors in the field.
- Ensuring all forest operations are carried out to professional health and safety standards.
- Liaising with other professionals in woodland creation plans, such as landscape architects, archaeologists, vegetation surveyors and engineers.
- Assisting in preparing costing and financial forecasts.
- Monitoring contract compliance and results of forestry activities
About you
- 2:1 degree in a related subject
- Interest in and a willingness to learn about forestry
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather and seasons
- Good organisational skills with a methodical and logical approach
- Excellent writing and numeracy skills, to support report production and client reporting
- Good communication skills – speaking to a variety of stakeholders
- Computer literate – competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & OneNote
- Full UK Driver’s Licence and own vehicle
- A degree in forestry, science, environmental science, geography or a related field, 2:1 or above
- Creative, innovative and strategic mindset
- Some prior experience with GIS software is desirable, but not essential
