What you’ll be doing

Working within the Materials Development team, you will have first-hand exposure to various functions in Research & Design in a high-end manufacturing environment. In this role you will gain invaluable experience through managing high-impact technical projects, developing a deep understanding of automotive materials, all whilst working alongside and being mentored by industry leading professionals.

Your main responsibilities include

  • Working with the Materials Development team to deliver a minimum of two new materials feature solutions
  • Working from design briefs, you will project manage at the scale of your pre-development objectives, plan activities for yourself as well as other supporting team members
  • Organising delivery of samples and testing within set time-frames
  • Supporting other members of the team by implementing process improvements either using digital tools or procedure optimization

About the Function

Our Material Development team develops the new, luxury and sustainable materials to be used in the Bentley interior of future programs. Our aim is improving, refining and validating the use of new technologies together with other departments such as manufacturing, quality, and design. We also work towards our sustainability strategy and work on tasks towards innovations and performance tracking.

Education

The successful candidates will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degrees: Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Sciences. Mechanical, Chemical or Automotive engineering may also be considered.

Skills

  • Effective data finding and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of materials selection and experimental set ups
  • Good communication skills and team leadership skills
  • Hands-on experience with materials activity such as wood working, foam cutting, casting desired
  • Failure analysis skills
