There are three Industrial Placements available

Future Autonomous Driving

This Industrial Placement sits within a cutting edge team, at the future of driver assistance and future autonomous driving technology for the luxury automotive sector. Within this role you will gain invaluable experience in advanced vehicle control systems and have the rare opportunity to learn what it is like to be an Engineer within the Luxury Automotive industry. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Opportunity to complete your own end to end project to improve our capabilities within simulated off vehicle development
  • Learn how an automotive business operates and develop an understanding of modern vehicle architectures and systems
  • Opportunity to lead your own process improvement project

Mechatronics

In the Mechatronics team, you will gain invaluable experience working on cutting-edge projects that drive the development of advanced automotive technologies. You will have the opportunity to develop key skills in software validation, system calibration, and the delivery of complex engineering solutions. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Support the development of the digital prototyping strategy for active chassis control systems
  • Conduct competitor benchmarking for suspension technologies
  • Complete calibration and software releases for all Bentley projects

Vehicle Simulation

Vehicle Motion is what makes a Bentley into a car. Everything to do with the way a Bentley moves, from accelerating and braking, to cornering and how comfortable our cars are on different road surfaces is the responsibility of Vehicle Motion. You will gain invaluable experience applying simulation methods in the development of a vehicle, work with cutting edge vehicle technologies and more, all whilst being mentored by industry leading experts. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with experienced simulation team members to deliver new vehicle development project simulation tasks
  • Develop skills in the use of industry standard simulation software
  • Liaise with key contacts across engineering to understand simulation requirements, collect input information and communicate results

About the function

The Future Vehicle Engineering Industrial Placement positions sit within the wider Research and Design function (R&D). We are responsible for the entire design and development process of all Bentley products, from idea creation all the way through to engineering sign off. Our mission is to inspire our customers by creating extraordinary products through passion, collaboration and sustainable innovation.

Education

The successful candidates will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degrees: Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace and Aeronautical, Software, Electrical or Motorsports Engineering. Alternatively, we welcome candidates studying Physics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence.

Skills

  • Interest in Simulation, Artificial Intelligent or Data Analytics
  • Good time and project management
  • Team working skills
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink or programming desired
  • Formula Student experience desired but not essential
  • App development and code writing experience desired but not essential
