What you’ll be doing

The Digital Surfacing team is responsible for the creation of 3D CAD data throughout the design process. You will gain invaluable insight into the automotive design process, play a part in developing Bentley Design’s vision for the future of the brand, as well as delivering cars into production. Working alongside Industry leading experts you will learn to develop an idea from a 2D sketch into a 3D model and see these ideas manifested in physical models or virtual reality. Your main responsibilities include;

  • Work with Bentley surfacing team and designers to develop CAD models of their designs which successfully capture the design intent and vision
  • Deliver data on time and to required quality for engineering, visualisation and model making purposes
  • Learn how to use different surfacing tools (Alias, Icem, Blender) to deliver data at the required speed and quality

About the function

The Digital Surfacing Industrial Placements sit within the wider Design function. Design at Bentley means working on a live project, making a difference to the actual product from day one. Ours is an intimate collaborative studio environment, and our creative culture radiates throughout the business. The Design team is responsible for creating everything from the initial sketch to the final production design, including exterior and interior design, UX and colour, materials and finish. We’re privileged to see our work realised through the highest craftsmanship and finest materials.

Education

The successful candidates will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degree subjects: Automotive and Transport Design, 3D Modelling or Intelligent Mobility.

Skills
