What you’ll be doing

The Colour, Materials and Finishes (CMF) design team creates design solutions for Bentley for new products. You’ll understand how we deliver proposals and concepts that demonstrate innovation and sustainability. Working with and being mentored by industry experts, you’ll get real insight into the thinking that underpins our strategy, an understanding of how we research and develop future materiality, in an ever-growing important area of automotive design. Your main responsibilities include;

  • Working in partnership with the CMF team members to create timing and project plans
  • Development of end to end Design proposals from research, supplier engagement, samples, 2D exploration, 3D physical prototypes and animated digital models aligned to a design brief, with the support of design experts.
  • Learn to present Design proposals in an articulated manner supporting project delivery

About the function

The CMF Design Industrial Placement sits within the wider Design Function. Design at Bentley means working on a live project, making a difference to the actual product from day one. Ours is an intimate collaborative studio environment, and our creative culture radiates throughout the business. The Design team is responsible for creating everything from the initial sketch to the final production design, including exterior and interior design, UX and colour, materials and finish. We’re privileged to see our work realised through the highest craftsmanship and finest materials.

Education

The successful candidates will be on track to achieve a 2:1 in the following degree subjects: Automotive Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Boat/ Yacht Design, or a Degree subject which focusses on colours, materials and finishes.
