Core responsibilities
As a Sales Development Representative, you will play a crucial role in driving our business development efforts to form new partnerships with schools by securing high-quality meetings for our New School Partnerships Team. You will work closely with both our Marketing and our Teaching & Learning teams to ensure our outreach is targeted and impactful. This is an ideal role for a person who wants to strengthen their business development skills with a view to progressing to Sales Executive.
Your key responsibilities will include
- Conduct initial outreach to schools, making 60 contacts per week.
- Engage in a consultative selling approach, building relationships with schools by understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions that improve educational outcomes.
- Work closely with New School Partnerships Executives to book meetings for them, ensuring a smooth handover and supporting the full sales cycle.
- Maintain accurate records of all outreach and follow-ups using CRM tools, ensuring that each school is fully nurtured.
- Manage lead generation and prospecting activities, focusing on school trusts, academies, and districts.
- Manage rejections and long sales cycles with resilience and maintain motivation by focusing on long-term goals.
- Collaborate with New School Partnerships Executives and the wider sales team to achieve weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets.
- Participate in team meetings to identify new target groups and outreach strategies, contributing to the overall sales approach.
Requirements
- A genuine interest in education and a passion for improving outcomes for children through innovative solutions.
- A bachelor's degree, equivalent or higher. Ability to manage a long sales cycle with patience, while remaining persistent and optimistic despite setbacks and rejections.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage decision-makers in schools.
- A self-starter with a proactive approach to meeting booking and lead generation, capable of managing a high volume of outreach.
- Experience in consultative sales or customer-facing roles is preferred, though not required; a strong desire to learn is essential.
- Resilience and motivation to handle multiple rejections and continue pushing for success.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and an ability to maintain meticulous records of prospect engagement.
- Comfortable working both remotely and in an office environment, with excellent time management skills to meet outreach targets.
- A team player with a collaborative mindset, open to feedback and willing to contribute to a positive team culture.
