Then our placement is for you!
Our exciting 8-week paid placement offers a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of BBC Asian Network. You'll get hands-on skills and experience working across our shows and departments, all at the heart of the action in our HQ in Birmingham. The salary for this scheme is pro-rata based on a £25,000 annual salary for an 8-week contract.
What will you do on this placement
During your time at BBC Asian Network you will collaborate with multiple teams, spending blocks of time across various departments. You will take part in creative meetings and complete a range of duties for production teams during and prior to live shows. This is an excellent opportunity to get a 360 view of what it’s like to work at an award-winning national broadcaster.
You will have a mentor who will meet with you weekly to discuss your placement progress and future plans. We are a 24/7 station, so the hours across the placement will vary. We are committed to ensuring our trainees have a diverse experience and as much involvement as possible. Therefore, we seek individuals who are flexible and willing to work weekends or late nights. We will do our best to accommodate personal circumstances when designing the schedule.
The placement period will take place between: 7th October – 29th November 2024.

What You Don’t Need:
- Qualifications or Experience: Forget the formal qualifications or prior radio experience. We’re looking for creativity, imagination, and a genuine passion for media and radio production.
Essential Requirements:
- Media Career Starters Only: This opportunity is for those at the beginning of their career in the media. If you’ve already gained paid experience within the BBC, this placement isn’t for you.
- Right to Work: You must hold documentation that grants you the legal right to work in the UK full time.
- Age Requirement: You must be 18 or older by the start date of the placement.
- Availability: You need to be available to work in Birmingham for the full 8 week placement which takes place between 7th October - 29th November 2024.
