Sustainable Finance Team

The Sustainable Finance team is tasked with supporting the Investment Bank’s ambition to be a market leading sustainable finance franchise. The team oversees and manages the implementation of multiple projects that are key to Barclays’ ambition to deliver USD $1 trillion in sustainable and transition finance by the end of 2030. The team drives portfolio decision-making on financial- and non-financial-risks, namely Climate Portfolio Management and via oversight of transactional Reputation Risk/Greenwashing on behalf of Business Units.

Who we're looking for

To be considered for this programme, you must be motivated and curious with a degree or expected degree – in any area. You will have a keen interest in finance, business and sustainability. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, all of which might be showcased through your involvement in extracurricular activities. The role ideally requires an understanding, or at least strong interest, in Sustainable Finance and climate finance.

Purpose of the role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the front office Sustainable Finance team. Gain broad exposure to different areas within the division.

Accountabilities

  • Provision of specific Sustainability expertise in the designing of new products and/or as an overlay to existing Products and client Coverage, including in the identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch.
  • Drive execution of Barclays’ Sustainable Finance commitments and strategy, including delivering on the commitment to reduce financed emissions as part of the net zero ambition.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, commitments and strategy.
  • Collaboration in exploring and driving new client opportunities, cross-functional change and transformation initiatives.
  • Participation in training and development programmes to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Understand how businesses work and learn from experts in the industry.
