Balyasny Asset Management is looking for an exceptional data analyst intern to join a discretionary L/S Equities Team covering the Industrial and TMT Sectors in the BAM London Office for Winter 2025.
The candidate will take ownership of critical datasets used by the portfolio manager and the rest of the investment team. This includes relationship management across the entire data pipeline from working with the vendor and the internal data and AI teams to delivering clean data in an easily digestible format to the end user. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with investment staff to brainstorm creative uses and monitoring for data and AI in the investment process
- Brainstorm and design ways to improve proprietary data evaluation processes
- Design the interface to track, monitor and connect various financial and alternative data sources (Web, Vendor databases, and unstructured survey data) by collaborating with end users and data engineers
- Monitor automated data ingestion pipelines for quality control
- Analyze data using standard statistical tools and techniques
- Pinpoint trends, correlations and patterns in complicated datasets to generate investment ideas.
Requirements
- Pursuing Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, and/or Finance/Economics degree or focus area of study with graduation date of Spring 2025 – Spring 2026
- Must have availability to intern fulltime, 40 hours per week January to May
- Strong Microsoft excel skills
- Strong Programming Skills; Python (Pandas) and SQL experience necessary
- Interest in AI
- Experience cleaning data sets
- Experience analyzing data sets and generating reports/visualizations/dashboards

- Prior Data internship experience is a plus
