Main purpose of the job it to drive the Project Accounting processes for the Basingstoke Business. The role is to take the end-to-end ownership of project accounting, and to partner with key business stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and visibility.

A team player who will partner with the key stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with project budgets. This role involves collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and other departments to provide timely financial insights and support. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Understand and implement the project accounting processes within the business and, where required, suggesting improvements.
  • Ensure Project budgets are correctly uploaded and, where appropriate, updated and that it is validated by the relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor that all transactions on projects are recorded in a timely and accurate manner and any corrective actions are undertaken.
  • Be heavily involved in the project review process and run the reviews.

Additional responsibilities

  • Managing the projects monthly and quarterly reporting requirements of the Basingstoke Business Unit, whilst supporting the Basingstoke Business Unit, working closely with the VINCI Energies UK&ROI Team to provide timely reporting and KPI updates (Monthly Results, Quarterly Forecasts and Headcount reporting).
  • To work closely with the business and Finance team to ensure that overheads are monitored and accounted for correctly. Ensuring balance sheets are reconciled and lead schedules maintained.
  • To work with the wider Finance Team and Company Director to prepare for the annual statutory audit and to uphold the VINCI Energies controls and processes.
  • Ensuring own and Teams adherence to Axians’ Management System Manual for Quality (ISO 9001), InfoSec (ISO 27001) and ESG (ISO 14001).
  • To ensure that the P&L is accurate, controls and policies are upheld and that provisions are maintained in line with these policies.
  • To be proactive in offering financial advice and guidance to the BUGM that will enhance the financial performance of the Business Units.
  • Carry out such tasks that Axians and the BUGM may require from time-to-time working closely with other members of the Finance Team or business.
  • Attend relevant training courses when required.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Qualified or Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
  • Experience of basic tax knowledge, understanding of percentage of completion revenue recognition.
  • Good working knowledge of Balance Sheet & PL, Experience of dealing with Audit teams, ability to partner and work with non-finance heads and managers.
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Works well within a team.
  • Use of Teams and Microsoft office suite.
