What if you could work with remarkable people on extraordinary things? What if the end result was something a little bit special? What if your role was mission critical?

For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear weapons research and development. We have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK’s ultimate deterrent – Trident. We also use our unique skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.

It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. What if that person was you?

About the Year in Industry

AWE is a high performing streamlined business, delivering extraordinary products. Our P3M (Portfolio, Programme, Project Management) function supports this by ensuring the flawless delivery of projects (facility construction, science, product manufacture and IT) safely, securely, to budget, to the correct quality and in a timely manner.

By joining the P3M team, you will not only gain knowledge and experience on the content and application of industry best practice project management principles but will also make a direct and visible contribution to the successful manufacture and delivery of our product and developing estate.

The role is designed to support the successful candidate, through a 12-month structured learning experience of both scheduled and task-based learning, with often external training opportunities. Given the specialist nature of our collective task, the experience and network you will build throughout the year will greatly add to your personal and career development.

Exact taskings will depend on the projects available at the time. Previous undergraduate students have been assigned independent low to medium complexity tasks and work packages within a larger project. In all cases, placement students have been, and will be supported and mentored by experienced project personnel, well versed in AWE processes.
