Internship Duration: 10 week - 1st July – 5th September 2025

Locations: Norwich, York

Are you in your penultimate year of university and eager to gain insight into the software development lifecycle? If so, a 10-week internship at Aviva could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Our Software Development teams play a crucial role in connecting with customers and colleagues, providing them with secure, reliable, and engaging experiences. By joining us as an intern, you'll have the chance to be part of a team that tests software before its release.

The internship offers an exciting learning experience in a collaborative environment where sharing ideas, asking questions, and seeking advice are highly encouraged. You don't need to be a tech expert or be studying technology related subject to apply.  We are looking for inquisitive individuals who are passionate about understanding how things work, enjoy solving problems, and are passionate about the transformative power of technology and software applications.

Our internships are designed to be a feeder into our Graduate Programmes so after you’ve finished your internship, you might be offered a permanent graduate role starting with us in September 2026 (after you’ve successfully completed your course).

Get to know the role:

Test Engineer (Norwich or York): our Software Testers ensure that our software is fit for purpose, resilient and secure. You will work to identify any issues, gaps, glitches or missing elements so that our customers and colleagues have a seamless and trouble-free experience when using our products and applications. During your internship you will learn the fundamentals of test management best practices, how to use test automation tools and gain knowledge of Behaviour Driven Development practices.

What you’ll get

●       A salary of £26,500 per annum (pro rata for 10 weeks)

●       The opportunity to learn from experienced professionals

●       A great support network to help you grow into your role

●       Build business and interpersonal skills to launch your future career (hopefully with us!)

●       The potential of an offer of a permanent graduate role for 2026

●       Support towards your personal development

●       25 days holiday, plus bank holidays (pro-rated)

●       Flexible working and wellbeing support

What we’re looking for

To be considered for this 10-week summer internship, you must:

●       be a penultimate year student studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in any subject), with one year of study remaining after the internship

●       be intending to return to university for your final year of study after the placement

●       be interested in the potential of a permanent role to commence Autumn 2026

●       be available to work full time (35 hours per week) for the full duration of the internship (1st July 2025 – 5th September 2025)

●       have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship whether that be on a permanent basis, or with a visa that would allow you to work 35 hours per week. We are unable to offer sponsorship for anyone requiring sponsorship by Aviva due the roles not meeting the requirements set out by the home office.

And have:

●       a genuine passion for technology, continual improvement and innovation

●       confidence in communicating, with a love of learning and the drive to keep developing yourself.

●       an analytical mind and talent for problem solving

●       an eagerness to question existing ways of doing things

Where could you be based?

Our Software Testing Internships are based in Norwich and York: both buzzing places in which to launch your career. You’ll need to live within commuting distance of the office where the role is based or be willing to relocate prior to start date as you’ll need to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, working from home. Three days in the office and two days from home (minimum 50%) is typical, but this will vary between teams.
