IT Support - Year in Industry Pathway
Our IT Support Team is essential in providing our colleagues with the expertise they need to resolve their technology challenges. Imagine a blend of IT Support, Customer Service, and Service Improvement—that’s what this team embodies.
If you’re enthusiastic about offering excellent service to colleagues and customers and have a keen interest in IT and Technology, this placement could be perfect for you.
Get to know the different pathway roles
There are a number of roles within this specialism. We’d encourage you to be as open as possible about the different options, but do let us know on your application if you have a preferred role. We’ll do what we can to help you light your own path.
IT Support (York): Our IT Support Analysts assist Aviva colleagues with IT issues and access needs, handling diverse tasks like setting up Outlook, adjusting dataset access, and granting permissions.
You’ll gain knowledge of systems such as Active Directory, PowerShell, SQL, and Mainframe, and use IT Service Management tools. As you grow, you may contribute to project goals and service improvements, working with various teams to develop solutions that enhance customer outcomes and streamline IT processes.
Service Analyst (Norwich): Our Service Analysts are the voice of our customers for all things IT: understanding their needs and ensuring our IT services meet their expectations. You'll collaborate with various IT teams to address incidents, prevent future issues, and provide insights into service performance using different technology tools.
Your role will involve delivering operational service performance across various applications, driving service improvements through accurate reporting and monitoring, and building strong relationships across teams to enhance customer and colleague experiences.
Our placements are designed to feed into our Graduate Programmes. After completing your placement, you might be offered a permanent graduate role starting with us in 2027 (after successful completion of your course).

Where could you be based?
The IT Support role is based in York, and the Service Analyst role is based in Norwich: both buzzing places in which to launch your career. You’ll need to live within commuting distance of the office where the role is based, or willing to relocate prior to your start date, as you’ll need to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, working from home. Three days in the office and two days from home is typical, but this will vary between teams.
Things undergraduates love about Aviva
Yes, we’re the UK’s leading diversified insurer. But we’re customer-centric and planet-minded. We’re acting on climate change and helping others do the same. We’re building stronger communities and investing in a future we all want to live in. And we’re changing the way we do business by championing everything from the living wage to women leaders.
We’re proud to be diverse, and just like our 19.5 million customers, our people are a mix of cultures, genders, and ages. We understand that one size doesn’t fit all and promote flexible ways of working for our team, so you can find your spark, your way.
The work we do is rewarding and challenging. And whatever role you’re in, we’ll give you the training you need as well as opportunities for you to develop yourself and grow in your career. We’re continuously moving forward as a business, and we’ll make sure you do too.

2. Online situational strengths test
3. Video interview

We interview every disabled applicant who meets the minimum criteria for the job. During your application, there will be an opportunity for you to send us an email stating that you have a disclosed disability.
