We are offering two different pathways for this role, either with a business and supply chain focus, or with a data and AI/ML focus applied to the supply chain environment.

What is the Supply Chain & Logistics Year in Industry?
The Vacuum Technique Business Area (VTBA) Logistics team covers three main areas of the supply chain - Warehouse Operations, Transport/Freight management and Global Supply Chain Planning. The Logistics group operates as a centrally managed enabling function to our six Divisions within VTBA. The Divisions are managed as separate businesses, but they all share the same physical logistics, warehouses and transport. There are currently five main Distribution Centres (DCs) operated by the Logistics group in North America, Belgium, China, Korea and Japan. All DCs are designed to operate similar best practice operating processes and systems.
We take pride in ensuring our business operating processes and procedures support our global mission. Depending on your own areas of interest, projects can be focused on data analytics or People and Process. During this placement you will work with members of the global logistics organisation, and will be assigned several projects in one or more of the following:
- Optimize Logistics processes: Improve a specific logistics process to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop training materials: Create comprehensive training materials to enhance employee understanding and compliance.
- Enhance performance reporting: Improve existing operational and performance reports or develop new ones to gain actionable insights.
- Optimize inventory and forecasting: Analyse inventory data and forecasting methods to identify opportunities for improvement and reduce costs.

Location
You will be based at our Vacuum Technique Business global headquarters in Burgess Hill, Sussex, a short journey from the vibrant and diverse seaside city of Brighton and Hove.
To succeed, you will need
- To be in your penultimate year of your undergraduate degree studying a relevant subject.
- To demonstrate a passion for working in a global supply chain and logistics environment to developing business acumen.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to work with internal and external clients and stakeholders globally.
- To be organised, with a process driven mindset and methodical way of working.
- The ability to work independently and proactively.
- Drive and desire for continuous professional development.
We will also consider applications from students pursuing a Masters Degree with Industrial Placement, however, please note that this is an entry level early careers role and not suitable for those with significant experience of working in Supply Chain or Logistics.

An annual salary of £24,000 on a fixed term contract of 12 months. This is a development opportunity where you will have access to online learning modules and on the job technical and business training. Selection process
The closing date for this role is midnight, Sunday, 8th December 2024. However, if we receive a high volume of applications we may close for applications sooner. If you’re successful in progressing to the next stage, you’ll be asked to complete an online one-way video interview. The final stage of the process will be an in-person selection day to be held in January in Burgess Hill.
