The job mission: Junior Mechanical Engineer

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the client design team in activities related to constructing a nuclear power plant. This includes mechanical design, integration, procurement, and configuration management, helping deliver a compliant and efficient plant design. You’ll work across various engineering disciplines to maintain the highest quality standards in compliance with British engineering standards and client methodologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design: Assist in the integration of mechanical systems into the overall plant design ⚡️ Documentation Review: Update and formulate requirements for mechanical, electrical, nuclear safety, and control logic to meet standards and client methodologies
  • Component Sizing: Perform calculations and modeling for components such as pumps, pipework, fans, and tanks
  • Procurement Support: Assist in developing technical specifications for procurement and oversee supplier compliance
  • Configuration Management: Manage system modification requests, ensuring applicability and design stability
  • I&C System Support: Contribute to the Instrumentation and Control (I&C) design by defining functional requirements and applying I&C design rules ⚡️
  • Commissioning Strategy: Support the commissioning team with system inputs and documentation for the commissioning sequence

My profile

Essential

  • BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-2 years’ experience in plant design or construction
  • Strong experience in mechanical design and specification development
  • Proficiency with Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to manage workload effectively to produce high-quality documents on time
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive in developing positive relationships
  • Clear and accurate communication skills, both written and verbal, in English

Desirable

  • Knowledge of EPR system design principles, I&C architecture, and Safety Classification
  • Experience with PDMS / Aveva E3D
  • Familiarity with operating plant environments or industrial sites
  • Ability to write technical documents in French
