The role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern to join our team at Hinkley Point C (HPC) as a Site Quality Engineering Intern. As an Intern you will be based at HPC and you will support the Site Quality Manager in the preparation of site activity, the Quality Management System with both internal and external partners as well as the execution of subcontractors and partners.

This outstanding opportunity will give you hands-on experience with real-world projects, whilst enabling you to develop professional skills and build your resume all under the Mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.

Main responsibilities

As a Site Quality Engineering Intern you will work closely with the site Quality teams who are responsible for constantly monitoring the activities executed at site ensuring internal, code & standards and contractual requirements of the project are met. You will support with subcontractors and client weekly meetings as well as the smooth execution of on-site Inspections.

Other Responsibilities include

  • Site management system establishment
  • Support site functions on quality methodologies and tools referred in our site management procedures (SMF)
  • Review Subcontractors and Partners quality plans to ensure alignment with SMF and requirements
  • Promote the Nuclear Safety culture and challenge implementation of ISO19443 requirements in all aspects of the work
  • Non-Conformance management, Punch Items, forensic events

Assist the NCC Manager and the Site Contract Manager when needed:

  • Support the SQM in the preparation of the mitigation plans to minimize impacts on forensic events
  • Provide support and monitor implementation of corrections and corrective actions for the proper opening and handling of Non-Conformities and Punch Items.

Reporting

  • Provide quality performance inputs as request by the Site Quality Manager
  • Support the Document Management Team with Records handling and QA Validation
  • Provide feedback on Subcontractors and Partners site quality performance
  • Develop KPI's and tracking method where needed
  • Developing LEAN approach and tools

Qualifications and Experience

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communicator with the ability to communicate effectively in a number of formats
  • Logical mindset with strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills in using Office Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.

  • Strong interest in the nuclear services industry and a desire to learn and grow in this field.
