We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern to join our team at Hinkley Point C (HPC) as a Site Finance Intern. You will be responsible for supporting the Site Finance Manager in all site finance administrative issues. Absolute discretion will be required for this role due to the nature of some of the information you will be dealing with on a day to day basis.

Main responsibilities

  • Support accounting for all site financial activities in the ERP system on a timely basis.
  • Assist the Site Finance Manager in maintaining the Site Fixed Asset Register and carry out yearly checks.
  • Assist the Site Finance Manager in the preparation of the Quarterly Construction Reviews.
  • Assists in the financial and contractual evaluation of site suppliers and subcontractors to minimize risk of non-performance.
  • Ensure that all site financial reporting systems are implemented, procedures documented and strictly adhered to.
  • Provide support to the Site team for purchasing of local site supplies whilst ensuring adequate internal control of duties in such procurement.
  • Verify to ensure that all the construction costs are booked against the correct cost positions.
  • Assist Site Purchaser in the process of onboarding new suppliers.
  • Check invoices are correct and booked against corresponding PO, and assist in creating Service Entries/Goods Receipts in ERP system.
  • Deputize the Site Finance Manager while the latter is on leave.
  • Maintain accurate finance records as instructed by the Site Finance Manager

Qualifications and experience:

  • A degree in a finance related subject is required for this role.
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Logical mindset with strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills in using Office Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Strong communicator with the ability to communicate effectively in a number of formats

Desired skills:

  • Previous experience within a Finance or commercial management role would be advantageous but not essential.
