This is an exciting opportunity for a Knowledge and Development Assistant to join our team based in Edinburgh reporting to both our Heads of Knowledge Management and Learning and Development.

The role

The Knowledge Management side of the role includes research and would ideally suit a recent graduate with a naturally inquiring nature. We are looking for a self-starter who can work independently and has the confidence to bring forward fresh ideas and perspectives. The Learning and Development side of the role involves liaising with staff and training presenters, organising training and essential learning and development administration duties.

You will be responsible for

  • Participation in and co-ordination of learning initiatives as directed by the Head of Learning & Development
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the Firm’s internal learning and development schedule and CPD requirements for qualified roles
  • Co-ordinating any training required for Online legal knowledge services (Westlaw, Practical Law, LexisNexis)
  • Completing research tasks and requests from fee earners using the Firm’s knowledge resources
  • Processing and recording of Knowledge Management subscription invoicing
  • Providing fee earners with access to hard-copy knowledge resources where required and circulation of routine subscriptions
  • Setting up and removing access to Westlaw, Practical Law, LexisNexis, Revenue Scotland, Registers of Scotland and Miller & Bryce for joiners and leavers
  • Maintaining spreadsheet of Firm’s joiners and leavers
  • Keeping the Knowledge and Development area of the Firm’s SharePoint intranet up to date
  • Co-ordinating and assisting in training required for using the Firm’s SharePoint intranet
  • Maintaining and updating information held in the Firm’s learning databases
  • Undertaking the administration of a new starter’s induction programme
  • Generating reports from KM and L&D databases
  • Maintaining the firm’s areas of expertise list

What you will need to succeed

  • Recent graduate – ideally in Information Management but candidates from other disciplines who are eager to learn will be considered
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an interest in technology
  • Be a flexible team worker and able to work using your own initiative
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and confidence in dealing with people at all levels
  • Desire to learn and contribute to the development and growth of the Firm
