About the opportunity

Assurance, Technology & Regulation (ATR) team has a primary focus on three key areas; Independent Oversight & Assurance, Technology Development, and Regulatory Support. Amentum’s Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) team has been supporting the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) naval nuclear propulsion programme for over 60 years.

The purpose of this role is to provide programme support to the Futures Programs and the Lead Programme Manager within our Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) organisation.

This role provides project and programme support on technically complex, time critical tasks within the INA programme of work. The role involves elements of Project management, supporting the Lead Programme Manager in the delivery of the larger INA programme. The Support Programme Engineer reports to the Lead Programme Manager and provides support, in a programme support role to the other Program engineers.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the production of task sheets in accordance with client requirements and due process.
  • Monitor and control tasks to ensure that they are delivered to budget and schedule.
  • Contribute along with the Cost Engineer in the production of robust financial and task reporting
  • Develop, maintain and manage Project area risk registers
  • Identification and management of change control
  • Proactively interact and collaborate with members of the Programme Management Office.
  • Support the timely preparation of monthly dashboards for the attention of the customer’s management team
  • Support the Programme engineers in managing the programme, including undertaking wider contract and programme reporting, Maintenance of Internal work trackers.
  • Liaising with the Planners to ensure good resource management and highlighting where there are issues.
  • Demonstrate a focus on internal stakeholder management, liaising technical leads representatives and a commitment to delivering on promises
  • Work in a safe and sustainable manner, adhering to the highest professionals standards and ‘doing the right thing’.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly and prioritise workload effectively.
  • IT literate (proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Numerate - understanding of manipulating Excel spreadsheets and producing reports.
  • Team player, the role needs to work closely with other Program Engineers and project teams.
  • Capable of dealing with problems in a practical manner with the ability to identify and implement solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under own initiative.
  • Able to work under short term pressure to resolve emerging issues in a timely and responsive manner.
