The role
AMD Edinburgh is adding to its IP Design team. This is a fantastic opportunity for Electronic Engineers with a passion for FPGA or ASIC development to join a team with access to world-class development infrastructure to work on all aspects of FPGA and ASIC development cycle. You'll be working in a well-established team responsible for IP and silicon components and systems for use by the world’s leading wireless telecommunications companies. Opportunities exist for engineers with different experience levels. The roles involve design, development, productization, and release of IP cores to support the very latest upcoming FPGA devices from AMD. This is an opportunity to work on leading-edge technologies and applications that are critical to our company and to our customers’ success.
The person
You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/timezones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, and software engineers to understand the new features to be implemented
- Build detailed documentation, accounting for interactions with other hardware and software
- Estimate the time required to write the new features and any required test environment changes
- Design and implement the RTL for the new feature, module or system
- Debug test failures to determine the root cause; work with verification team to resolve design defects and correct any issues
Preferred experience
- Experience of digital logic design (FPGAs, ASICs, CPLD, embedded processors or microcontrollers).
- Experience of RTL design with Verilog, VHDL or SystemVerilog for ASIC
- Experience in DSP and wireless communication technology development (an advantage)
- C or C++ development for embedded systems (an advantage)
- Knowledge of Matlab, (Tcl/Perl/Python) to control AMD and Xilinx tools and/or other EDA tools (an advantage)
- Familiarity with ASIC implementation tools and flows (an advantage)
- Familiarity with AMD Vivado and SDK as well as 3rd party logic simulators (an advantage)
- Experience in design of high speed logic to the highest quality (an advantage)
Academic credentials
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrictronic Engineering
