The team and role

The A&M Insight Center is the rapidly growing research and benchmarking arm of Alvarez & Marsal. The mission of the Insight Center is to provide our professionals and our client executives with highly relevant, industry specific, actionable, fact-based insights derived through our proprietary benchmark and research studies on a global basis. The Insight Center supports client work and business development projects with an ever-growing toolbox of products, including custom benchmarking and research studies and targeted subscriptions and resources.

The Insight Center also manages the firm’s multi-million dollar research subscription portfolio that encompasses over 200 subscriptions. The Insight Center is responsible for full life-cycle management of these contracts: negotiating renewal terms, allocating and paying invoices, and responding to inquiries about both current and new subscriptions. The Insight Center is looking for a strong performer to join the team to manage all aspects of the firm’s research subscriptions. This is a 6 months fixed term contract with hybrid working in London.

Responsibilities

Administrative responsibilities of the firm’s research subscription portfolio such as

  • Invoices – Allocate invoices using the agreed upon allocation model, obtain approval, and submit to Accounts Payable; track payment status to ensure payment terms are met
  • User Management – Execute user adds and drops via the vendor or self-service platforms
  • Practitioner Inquiries – Respond promptly to subscription questions (e.g. can I get access, do we subscribe to it, who has access, what is the cost, etc.) from A&M stakeholders from all divisions and across all levels (Analysts to Managing Directors)
  • Vendor Inquiries – Field communication from potential new vendors; respond to current vendor inquiries about payment status, usage, etc.; facilitate communication between current vendor and subscribers
  • Administration – Capture contract, invoice, subscription, and subscriber information in Salesforce

Strategic responsibilities of the firm’s research subscription portfolio such as

  • Renewals – Track upcoming subscription renewals and communicate with current subscribers and divisional leaders to ascertain continued interest; negotiate with the vendor to obtain the most advantageous contract terms; work with A&M Legal on contract execution
  • Provide divisional leaders with subscription cost budget guidance
  • Identify cost-effective alternatives for subscriptions and work with divisional leaders and stakeholders to vet

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, with some professional work experience

The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in

  • Customer service; experience in a professional services setting is a plus
  • Organization, prioritization, and attention to detail; ability to deliver high quality results, often in a time-constrained environment
  • Written and oral communication
  • Problem solving; use creativity to think of “outside the box” solutions
  • Flexibility/adaptability; not afraid of some uncertainty

Other valuable skills and experience

  • Knowledge of and experience with research subscriptions (e.g., CapIQ, Bloomberg) and Salesforce
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Project management and/or leadership experience
