Are you interested in working with leading experts to protect Airbus against an ever evolving cyber threat and be part of the corporate digital security office combining; IT, industrial manufacturing, product, and people security? Airbus’ Cyber Security, Innovation and Scouting team is leading the way in cutting-edge security research and development. Our dynamic and diverse team is currently recruiting for a 1 year fixed term, full-time work placement student, to support existing activities in research and development of state of the art cybersecurity solutions.

Part of the corporate security office, the team provides support to all areas of the global Airbus business, across IT, manufacturing systems and product. You will be part of a community of cybersecurity experts and researchers addressing existing and emerging security challenges.

What will you be doing

During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include;

  • support and become a key part of activities in scouting, research & innovation, solution development, system administration and testing.
  • work closely with experienced team members across a variety of projects and topics
  • contribute to technical analysis, discussions, reports, and demonstrations.

Whilst good understanding of cyber security/forensics is expected, many of the topics within the scope of research at Airbus are innovative, and therefore drive and motivation are key. Learning support from our experts will be provided.

Personal

Our successful applicants are highly motivated to develop knowledge in the fields of cyber security and digital forensics. We are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate in an active research culture, ranging from solutions development and technical research, to facilitating improvements in cyber awareness, understanding and adoption.

We require that you have, or are eager to develop, good skills in technical writing, presentation, personal organisation and time management. We need you to be eager to apply your existing knowledge to new problems, and contribute your ideas to innovative solutions.

Technical

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following

  • An understanding of computer systems, networks, protocols, and infrastructure.
  • Good knowledge of cyber security or forensics issues, and familiar with recent events and developments in the area.

Any of the following attributes are also desirable

  • Experience of penetration testing and associated tools.
  • Understanding of multiple operating systems, including Linux distributions.
  • Experience of AI / machine learning / data analytics techniques and algorithms.
  • Programming languages such as Java, Python and C/C++.
  • An awareness of software development and system design.
  • Awareness of security management frameworks and standards.
