Here at Airbus in the UK’s Communication Department we don’t like to boast but we do have a pretty impressive record when it comes to giving interns memories of a lifetime – how many can say they went to work and ended up being an extra in a film with Ed Sheeran*?
OK, we do like to boast but we are pretty proud of the experience we provide students who spend around 12 months working with us. No two days are the same. Monday you could be at a local school launching a biodiversity project. Friday (which is a half working day by the way) you could be designing a campaign to promote Early Careers within Airbus. Of course there are the day-to-day tasks to cover like writing news stories, creating videos, designing campaigns, staying on top of the local news and a range of other public relations-related work. And it would really help if you have an interest in aerospace and some knowledge of the fantastic products Airbus makes.
But really the most important thing is what makes you tick. All we ask is that you have a genuine desire to work at Airbus and are not just applying because any place will do. If you have a genuine interest in what we do and a hunger to develop skills in communication-related disciplines, we’d love to hear from you, regardless of what you’re studying.
We have two opportunities: one is located in Filton, near Bristol and one is located in Broughton, which is in North Wales but relatively close to Chester in England.
* The Ed thing really did happen. Check out the film ‘Yesterday’ and the aircraft scene.
What you will be doing
You’ll be working in a range of disciplines:
- Internal Communication which is all about working on the communication for our employees in our Filton and Broughton sites;
- Media Relations which involves supporting our UK media manager on all aspects of work including social media.
In short, you’ll get involved in supporting all aspects of the team’s work and your ideas, curiosity, energy and enthusiasm are essential at all times to help you quickly become an integral part of our team of professionals working in internal and external communications and community engagement. As we started with a boast, it’s only right we end on the same note. In return for giving us your passion, determination and commitment you will enjoy flexible working hours, a little travel, some excellent employee benefits (loads of discounts!) and access to some top-notch events.
If you think you could be tomorrow’s next PR big hitter, get your application submitted sooner rather than later because once we have seen enough impressive CVs and cover letters, we reserve the right to close the application window to select winning candidates. We look forward to hearing from you.
