The A350 Chief Engineer’s Team is looking for a great intern to join our friendly, self-motivated team. In the UK we look after the A350 Wing, Landing Gear, Fuel, and Inerting systems design and development. We are primarily accountable for the airworthiness and safety of all these areas.
We lead aircraft development projects by specifying technical requirements, managing engineering teams to deliver “best for aircraft” solutions and solving problems. We also actively support aircraft being assembled and those operating in-service - you will be working with us as a full member of the team.
What you will be doing
Success in this role will be largely down to you, but typically you will be:
- Working with the Chief Engineering team on product evolution of the A350 family by defining aircraft technologies and requirements, attending regular team meetings, and contributing to product development ideas and projects;
- You will also liaise with teams like Engineering, Safety & Procurement to deliver integrated solutions;
- Improving the teams’ processes via internal projects;
- Developing yourself – enhancing your confidence, leadership, communication skills, technical capability and team working;
- You will gain a top level appreciation of aircraft development and an understanding of the decision making processes involved in complex aerospace industry projects;
- You will have flexibility and ownership on tasks across a range of disciplines through the support of the Fuel Systems, Wing Structure, and Landing Gear Chief Engineers;
- You will work with a highly experienced team who will both pass on knowledge to you and will expect to listen and learn from your contributions and experiences.
Requirements
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Studying towards a relevant Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
- Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to summarise complex issues and communicate clearly, both in verbal and written forms as well as in front of audiences;
- An understanding of project management with the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met;
- An empathetic person capable of building relationships, self-reflecting and listening;
- Comfortable with taking the initiative and working with an open scope;
- Prepared and able to travel between European sites, if required.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
