2H Offshore is a global engineering contractor specialising in the design, engineering and integrity management of offshore structures, topsides facilities, subsea components and riser and conductor systems for the offshore renewables and oil and gas sectors. Both market sectors require similar engineering skill sets, and our breadth of experience in offshore structures and environments allows us to provide expertise at all stages of a project: feasibility and concept design, detailed design, procurement management, fabrication support, installation support, monitoring, integrity management, asset life extension and decommissioning.

The Role

2H Offshore are looking to add a Placement Student to their team on a 6 month fixed term basis in our Aberdeen office. A Student with an interest in structural design and engineering is wanted to undertake engineering and design activities for Renewables and Oil and Gas offshore structures.

During your placement, you will perform design activities including calculations, dynamic structural analysis and system configuration for a variety of subsea, platform and renewable energy structures. You will be responsible for ensuring acceptable structural and fatigue performance of the designs, whilst considering the functional, fabrication, installation and in-service requirements. The role will also involve the communication of technical results and conclusions to other members of the team and clients through meetings, presentations and written reports. We use a number of software packages, from specialist global analysis tools such as Flexcom, Orcaflex and SACS, to general-purpose finite element analysis and design tools such as Ansys and Solidworks.

You will be expected to work independently and within teams, supported by and working closely with stakeholders; to provide high level deliverables to our clients; and to actively contribute to continuous development of 2H's engineering capabilities and reputation.
