"When I found out about the Intelligence and Data Analysis Development Programme, it was a real lightbulb moment. I’d always assumed that I didn’t have the right experience to work somewhere like MI5, but that just wasn’t true. Everyone made me feel comfortable during the recruitment process and I actually really enjoyed it. The workplace is so inclusive and really celebrates everyone’s differences – MI5 have actually won lots of diversity and inclusion awards which reflects how important it is to them. The organisation really does value everyone and the support on offer is amazing. When I first joined, I spent three months learning relevant skills before heading into my first posting. I love that there are always new things to learn and new tools to get to grips with. Our investigations can be challenging, but it’s so satisfying when you uncover valuable information. I can’t wait to see what my future holds!"

I also loved that I’d have the chance to develop my career, whilst making a positive difference. Since joining MI5, I’ve had so much support and have learnt so much. Everyone’s really friendly and the work is even more fascinating than I imagined. It’s been so interesting to understand the different capabilities and operations within the organisation. I’m now on track to complete three different roles in analysis over the next five years. It’s the best way of working as I will improve different skills with different teams!
