I remember seeing GCHQ in the ‘Top 100 Graduate Employers’ list but I still didn’t really believe I could work here. My background is in Neuroscience and Computer Science so when I saw an internship in Data Architecture, I applied straight away. I was then lucky enough to be offered a graduate role.
Since then, I’ve had the chance learn about a wide range of technologies and attend lots of talks. I think because we’re all working towards the same goals, everyone’s very open. It’s a really inclusive environment. In fact, we have personalised development plans to support our individual progression according to our interests and career aims. This helps us in our current roles, but also in future roles too. Working collaboratively and inclusively is a part of this.
In terms of my professional development, I want to specialise further and develop my practical skills. This will allow me to support the organisations most pressing priorities and give me evidence towards my next promotion. It’s been such an interesting journey so far, and it’s just the start!
