How I did it: Anna’s journey to Shell

We recently caught up with Anna who discussed with us how she secured her graduate scheme with Shell. She let us know how she heard about it, why she chose the company, and some top tips for fellow members to follow in her footsteps.

Tell us a bit about your role

I started my role on the Downstream Commercial Graduate Scheme at Shell in July 2019, so I have now been here just over a year.

How did you hear about the role?

I found the role via The Bright Network. I was using it to find a graduate scheme role.

What made you choose to apply to Shell?

I chose Shell because I am interested in commodities and products that directly and intensely affect people and world growth. The energy sector seemed like a great fit for me and I felt drawn to Shell specifically because I agree with their company principles, values and strategy for the future of world energy.

What would be your top tip to members going through the application process?

My top tip would be to speak with honesty and integrity. This means being confident in not knowing the answer to every question. When hard questions come at you, getting them all right is impossible, but processing the information and being thoughtful is a great way to deal with them.
