What is it that you do?

It’s never simple explaining what I do – I am a Functional (Business Solutions) Consultant in the Oracle Practice. Functional Consultants provide advice and support to businesses about Oracle technology that can perform critical tasks and processes. They recommend and configure technology-based solutions to address a client or organisation’s business needs.

What does a day in the life look like for you?

Each day begins with a call with the internal team to discuss progression and roadblocks, if any, as we work directly with the client and third parties. This call is essential as plenty of meetings occur and communication of progress is vital day to day, so the Project Manager (PM) is aware of the project status.

During the week, there will be multiple meetings within the Capgemini team and with the client. I facilitate and partake in weekly project and workstream meetings with the stakeholders.  These meetings help the project team highlight and prioritise when to get actions completed by. Good levels of communication are paramount in every milestone of the project.

Alongside this, I am involved with internal work across the Business Unit, and I assist with the Oracle University Learning Subscription, tracking the different teams within the Oracle Delivery Unit (DU).  I also participate in a variety of the company wide calls including the Race & Equality Network (REN), Graduate & Apprentice calls and Learning & Development specific.

What advice would you give to students looking to apply to Capgemini?

Make sure to network whenever you get a chance and don’t shy away from questions! Network everywhere. Make sure to take advantage of platforms like LinkedIn and reach out to people involved in your tech space/interests. Networking contributes to your social well-being, and it leads to the exchange of ideas. It will definitely boost your professional confidence.

From my experience at Capgemini, everyone truly values wellbeing and fosters an inclusive culture to work in. If you ever feel stressed or worried about anything, make sure to reach out and ask for some advice!
