Daniel Burslam PepsiCo

Why did you apply for the Supply Chain placement year at PepsiCo?

I applied in October 2023 to explore PepsiCo’s end-to-end supply chain. PepsiCo’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in its supply chain made it an exciting opportunity for me.

What exciting opportunities have you experienced during your student placement year so far?

In my first month, I participated in a Data Analytics Connect, where employees from PepsiCo's UK sites gathered to share ongoing projects and collaborate on improving data analytics methods. This was a great opportunity to settle into my role, which also includes data analytics, and to learn from my colleagues' experiences and insights.

I have also had the opportunity to take part in a Taste Test where placement students got together to try the new 'Yummy with' snack range. The article will feature in PepsiCo's PepTalk magazine later this year.

What support have you been given throughout your student placement year so far?

I've received regular support from my manager through frequent check-ins, which are great for reviewing my progress and gaining new perspectives. I also have a Graduate Mentor, a former placement student, who shares valuable insights and guidance. Additionally, I’ve taken part in several Project Management training courses, helping me enhance my skills and apply PepsiCo’s methodology effectively.

What has made you proud to work for PepsiCo?

PepsiCo creates a culture where employees are appreciated and recognized for their hard work. Each month, the UK Supply Chain hosts a "Time Out" event, where teams share what made them smile. It’s a great way to celebrate successes and highlight what’s going well across different sites.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is considering a student placement year at PepsiCo?

Make the most of networking opportunities to understand different functions within the business. It’s a fantastic way to learn and grow your insight into PepsiCo’s operations.
