What do you do at Arcadis?
I am an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer currently working with the Ground Data and Visualisation Team.
Why do you love working at Arcadis?
I love working at Arcadis as it is a very happy and nurturing environment. I have been encouraged to challenge myself from day one! There are abundant professional possibilities available - something new to attend or get involved in every day.
Can you describe a ‘typical day’ in your role?
My typical day involves anything from design work using engineering software, drawing mark-ups, quick sense-check calculations on paper, guiding drafting colleagues, report writing, meeting prep and the occasional cup of tea catch-up with colleagues. My favourite days are when I get to optimise designs with the help of senior colleagues.
What has been your favourite project up to now?
My favourite task has been the Geotechnical design of an overbridge approach embankment on a large infrastructure project. I was able to create a more sustainable design using site-won material and proved to my team that this resulted in CO2 savings in the order of 500 tonnes.
