Emmanuel's insight into life at BII and advice for those applying

Emmanuel BII

What matters most to you about the work we do at BII?

The most significant aspect of the work at BII that resonates with me is its impactful involvement in initiatives like MedAccess. A prime example is Ghana becoming the first country to receive COVID-19 vaccines from COVAX, alongside auto-disable syringes, enabling immediate vaccination efforts. This underscores BII's commitment to making a tangible difference, particularly in Africa and South Asia. As someone who was born and raised in Ghana, witnessing BII's positive impact in these regions is profoundly meaningful to me. The intentionality behind BII's impact-oriented deals is what truly matters, reflecting a deep commitment to sustainable and meaningful change.

What have you enjoyed most while working at BII?

During my time at BII, I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn and grow as an individual. I appreciate being trusted with meaningful work and being given the chance to dive into projects that contribute to my rapid development. The culture at BII has been exceptional; everyone is welcoming, which has greatly helped me assimilate and settle in. Having interned at several places before, I can confidently say that the culture at BII is unparalleled and has made my experience truly enjoyable.

What is your biggest learning experience since being at BII?

My biggest learning experience at BII has been understanding the importance of intentionality in impact investing. I've learned how crucial it is to ensure that every deal is not only financially viable but also aligned with BII's mission to create sustainable and positive change. This experience has taught me the value of strategic thinking and the importance of aligning investments with broader social goals.
