Environmental, Social, Governance

By CIL Management Consultants

We caught up with CIL to hear about their commitment to sustainability and how they use their position as a leading management consultancy firm to make a positive social impact. Here’s what they had to say…

Our view on sustainability and social impact

CIL is a rapidly growing company. While this makes it a dynamic and fascinating workplace, it also means we leave a bigger impression on the environment and society – we are committed to ensuring this is done in a sustainable manner, that respects the environment and supports the local communities in which we operate.

Led by our environmental, social and governance (ESG) team, CIL aims to consider the effect of our business within wider society. We are committed to contributing meaningfully to the local community through charitable partnerships, fundraising efforts and pro bono work.

B Corp certified

Our commitment to accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement has been recognised and CIL is proud to have achieved B Corp certification. This highlights our dedication to meeting high standards of social and environmental impact.

Charity support

We have contributed over 280 hours of pro bono work over the last year and supported over 30 charities. Some key charity partnerships are:

Missing people

Missing People is a charity we have partnered with since 2015. It is a lifeline for the 170,000 children and adults that go missing each year in the UK and the loved ones that they leave behind. In addition to ongoing fundraising, we use our commercial strategy expertise to help Missing People explore new avenues for revenue generation, evaluate its existing activities and understand its customers to ensure the charity sustains its vital services for the long term.

CIL - Missing People
“CIL is a fantastic long-term supporter and friend of Missing People. The passion and energy of CIL’s employees affect change at all levels of the charity, providing pro bono work, taking on challenge events and being heavily involved in both our development and young professional boards.” - Director of fundraising and communications, Missing People

Firefly International

We have a longstanding relationship with the charity Firefly International. Firefly supports locally-led artistic and educational projects in Bosnia and the Middle East that create safe, supportive and inclusive spaces for young people to grow, learn, and thrive. The charity works closely with children and communities in post conflict areas and is one we have supported since 2009.

Carbon negative status

CIL is carbon-negative, offsetting our carbon emissions by 110%. We continue to look at ways in which we can reduce our operational emissions and achieve net zero. We partner with Seedling to support our reduction initiatives and invest in projects that have a real, permanent impact and display a strong wider social contribution in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals. The projects we support span a broad mix of renewables including solar, wind, hydropower, bioenergy and afforestation.
