Francesca has been a project Cyber Security Engineer at Atos and started a year ago. Here she shares her career story, her responsibilities, and her daily routine...
"I wanted a career change after working two years in another industry after graduating from University. The challenge that a career in Cyber Security offered greatly excited me. Atos caught my attention as an employer that could support my career swap and ongoing development.
What stood out to me about Atos was that they were willing to take me on without any IT or cyber qualifications. I have had constant access to support and on-the-job training, on top of a thorough training induction that familiarised me with technical skills. Already, I feel like a valued member of the team. I love the variety of work and the fact that no two days are ever the same.
As a Cyber Security Engineer, I deliver new cyber solutions for key accounts. My role is varied but mainly spans design, build and configuration of solutions. Currently, I work on projects for clients from both the public and private sectors.
A typical day
Usually, I begin my day by actioning any issues that may have occurred overnight. Also, I meet with project managers to review progress against timelines, which ensures that business goals are achieved on time. For the remainder of the morning, I continue with any building and configuration work for current deployments.
After lunch, I finish any remianing work needed on design documents. I then test the configuration work and other changes made to the software, and update the test documentation with any conclusions. At the end of the day, I will make any last calls that are needed and create a to-do list for the following day."
