We caught up with Conor, Associate at SMBC Group EMEA, to discuss what life is like working at the bank.
Describe your experience on the Kaika programme?
The Kaika programme as a whole is a fulfilling rotational-programme that provides the opportunity to acquire a vast array of banking knowledge during the early stages of your career.
What do you enjoy most about working at SMBC?
The people. Due to working in so many different areas of the bank and with a variety of colleagues at all levels, I have been able to form strong professional and personal relationships.
Outside of this, I have been involved in organising the last two SMBC Group EMEA annual football tournaments, offering the opportunity to foster collaboration over some friendly competition.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining the programme?
100% go for it. SMBC Group EMEA is a great place to start your banking career and the opportunities present themselves as long as you remain driven to learn and grow in your career. Due to the support of colleagues, I have made some amazing memories during my time on the programme, with the standout being my work trips to the Frankfurt office!
SMBC Group’s positive culture has meant that my passion for the industry and my determination to succeed within it has only grown day-by-day and I have the pleasure of enjoying coming to work every day. The programme provides a great opportunity to gain knowledge and enhance skillsets, which will be pivotal when working within an industry that is ever evolving.
