What stood out to you about Accenture before securing your role?
Before I joined, I connected with some really inspiring Accenture people who helped me envisage a future at the company. From the grad that I spoke to at the Bright Network Fair, to the analysts that I met at my assessment centre, I felt that this was a place where I could really fit in and make a difference.
I wasn’t well versed in consulting before joining but had always looked for a job with plenty of variety and I was excited by the exposure to top household brands from all over the world at Accenture. I also thought it was fascinating (and a little random) that an Accenture MD would have a podcast with will.i.am (Pivot to the Future).
What is the culture like at Accenture?
Accenture is fundamentally a people organisation. What I love about it is that we are a global team built of motivated people with a huge sense of community and collaboration. Due to the nature of my role as a consultant, I’ve worked with so many inspiring individuals from all walks of life and learned a great deal from them all (and would like to think that I equally imparted a lot in return).
How did you show you have a passion for Accenture at the interview?
Ahead of the interview I read a lot about the history of Accenture and the technology vision for the future. As one of the tasks at the interview, I threw myself into research and crafted a presentation on artificial intelligence in the healthcare industry. I found the topic fascinating and believe that my passion showed through.
What opportunities do Accenture offer?
The opportunities are endless at Accenture. As a company of over 700,000 individuals, we can work on projects across our huge range of clients and across a really broad scope of work.
What has been your working ‘highlight’ thus far?
Two highlights – a professional and personal. My professional highlight came in my first year where I really challenged myself on a project and conducted user research for a global social media company and discovered my love for Service Design (my current specialism). On a personal level, I made incredible friendships with my colleagues that started back in early 2021 during our virtual onboarding.
What top three tips would you give Bright Network members looking to follow in your footsteps?
- Never be afraid to ask questions – you are never expected to know it all. Take time and reflect on what is being said through asking insightful questions. Engage with the conversation and show your enthusiasm where you can.
- Make connections - I work in an area of the business that I had never heard about before joining. Speak to everyone that you can, be curious and demonstrate a passion for learning.
- Showcase soft skills - don’t downplay experience outside of formal jobs. Accenture values teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
