A Graduate placement is a work-based training opportunity for a current student or recent graduate to build on their qualification with work experience or through an additional post graduate qualification/work experience.

Our systems and technology have been developed making it easy for our staff to work from any location. That means that whilst we are based in Glenrothes, the posts are offered on the basis of a blended working arrangement, which can include a significant element of working from home.

There are 2 Graduate Project Officer posts available and both will provide a great opportunity for a graduate to gain experience of a wide range of activities across the teams within Fife Council and with our partner organisations.

One post will focus on all aspects of Project Management, developing your experience and knowledge of how to successfully develop and deliver a wide range of climate change projects.

One post will focus on all aspects of Engagement, developing your experience and knowledge of how to successfully engage and influence a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to increase climate change progress.

Both successful candidates will work across climate mitigation and climate adaptation, including our zero waste activities. Over the 2 year term, the successful candidates will be supported in the development of their professional competencies, and support of their work to secure Chartered Membership of relevant professional bodies.

The posts offer a great opportunity to expand your range of experience. Opportunities are available for postholders to be involved in areas of work such as place based climate engagement, delivering project management for the council’s role in Fife Partnership projects such as waste re-use. You will also gain experience of specialist areas such as SGN’s H100 Fife domestic hydrogen project, and of developing resilience to climate impacts such as flooding.

Personal development is supported through our extensive CPD programme and our network of professional mentors.
